The bills for the establishment of new colleges of Education in Kebbi and Ondo states have passed first reading just as the bill for creation of the Nigerian Aviation and Aerospace University in Oyo State passed first reading in the upper legislative.

Senators Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North) and Jimoh Ibrahim Folorunsho (Ondo South), sponsored the bills for the proposed teacher training institutions, while Senator AbdulFatai Buhari (Oyo North) sponsored the Aeropace university. 

When President Bola Tinubu assents to the bills passed by the Senate, the proposed Federal Colleges of Education will be cited in Illo Town, Bagudo, Kebbi State and Igbekebo, Ese Odo Local Government Areas, Ondo State.

Yahaya’s Bill titled Federal College of Education, Illo (Establishment) Bill, 2023 (SB. 149) which was the first business order of the day received the approval of the Senate via voice votes during the plenary presided over by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

The Senate also passed the first reading of other bills titled Federal College of Education, Igbekebo, Ondo State (Establishment) Bill 2023 (SB.169) and Nigerian Aviation and Aerospace University (Establishment) Bill, 2023 (SB. 159).

The Clerk of the Senate Chinedu Akubueze read the short titles of the bills after the Leader of the Senate, Opeyemi Bamidele, introduced them.

The bills have been slated for second reading in the days ahead, for further legislative actions.
