The Senate has said it will not comment on the nomination of Professor Joash Amupitan as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) until his name is formally transmitted to the upper chamber for screening.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, in a reaction on Thursday, said the nomination and appointment process is constitutionally subject to Senate confirmation.

“We cannot make any preposterous comment until he is presented to us, with his credentials and an informed verdict, after an open screening and necessary verification,” Adaramodu stated.
