The Senate has recommended the naming of an educational institution after the late Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, in recognition of his contributions to education, democracy and political development.
This followed a motion moved by Adeniyi Adegbonmire during plenary on Wednesday, in honour of the elder statesman, who died on October 20, 2026, at the age of 100.
Seconding the motion, Senator Olajide Ipinsagba described Fasoranti’s death as a major loss to Ondo State, recalling his role in resolving disputes among youths, elders and other groups.
“He was always there to resolve problems within the youth, within the elders and among all parties concerned in any dispute. So today we have lost him,” Ipinsagba said.
The senator further likened the death of the late Afenifere leader to the destruction of a repository of knowledge, given his wealth of experience and the guidance he provided to the people of the state.
“His death is like a burnt library to all the people in the State because of the knowledge that we tapped from him,” he added.
Moving the motion, Adegbonmire described Fasoranti as a committed nationalist whose contributions to education and the advancement of democratic governance would remain indelible.
