The pan-Igbo socio-cultural and economic advancement group, Akuluno United Brothers Association (AUBA), has installed Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, MON, as its Grand Patron during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) held on Sunday in Enugu.

The development was confirmed in a brief statement released by the Senator through his verified social media handle and obtained by The Sun.

Kalu’s installation, according to AUBA, recognises his longstanding contributions to the economic, political, and social development of the South East. The honour also aligns with the association’s mandate to drive sustainable growth, stimulate wealth creation, and expand job opportunities across Ala-Igbo.

Demonstrating his commitment to AUBA’s mission, Senator Kalu announced a landmark donation of ₦100 million to support the association’s ongoing and future developmental projects in the region.

Represented at the ceremony by his brother, Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, who also donated ₦10 million, the total contribution from the Kalu family rose to ₦110 million.

In his remarks delivered through Chief Mascot, Senator Kalu reaffirmed his support for AUBA’s objectives, stressing the urgent need for collaborative initiatives to address economic challenges facing the South East. He commended the association’s leadership and encouraged continued unity in the pursuit of regional economic empowerment.

He also extended warm felicitations to AUBA’s National President, High Chief Mike Ejiofor, and all distinguished members of the association for their unwavering dedication to community upliftment.

According to The SUN, AUBA is an exclusive high-profile network of industrialists, business leaders, and accomplished entrepreneurs of South East origin. The association focuses on strengthening the regional economy by attracting investments, encouraging sustainable enterprises, and expanding employment opportunities.

The installation of Senator Kalu as Grand Patron is expected to significantly bolster AUBA’s visibility, influence, and capacity to mobilise resources as it continues its mission to position the South East as one of Africa’s most progressive and economically vibrant regions.
