Finally, Mr. Segun Awolowo Jnr., the famous grandson of late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, has chosen a new date when his darling daughter, Oluwaseun will be getting married. The Awolowo family, after the January 19 postponement of the wedding, has settled for April 22 to see their daughter tie the knots with her fiancé, Toye Bode Kayode. The Awolowo family will be playing hosts to the groom’s family in Lagos for the traditional wedding ceremony.

Sources close to the three big families of Awolowo, Folawiyo and Kayode said preparations have been stepped up for the strictly-by-invitation nuptial which is expected to shake the whole of Lagos social milieu. Awolowo Jnr., the father of the bride, is an Alpha socialite with right connections aside his position as the CEO of Nigerian Exports Promotion Council. Alongside his amiable wife, Bola, they are not leaving any stone unturned as they are ready to host a galaxy of prominent personalities from all walks of life on their daughter’s big day.

For the bride’s grandmum and Nigeria’s doyen of style and fashion, Hajia Abba Folawiyo, this wedding will not just be like any other weddings. The wife of the late Baba Adinni of Nigeria, Alhaji Wahab Iyanda Folawiyo has been planning big for this wedding since last year. Before the postponement, many of her friends have already picked the expensive Aso Ebi as they see the wedding as a sort of a payback time for their loyal friend who for many years added colour to their own different ceremonies. They are now upbeat and looking forward to the new date.

The 27-years-old bride, Seun, is part of the management and strategy team for real estate at Goldman Sachs. She holds a degree in Politics and International Studies from Warwick University. She is a motivational speaker and runs an NGO called Teach-A-Girl Nigeria, which focuses on Girl Child education in Nigeria with seven other incredible ladies. She is also the founder of Leads Africa and 3D Living Moments. Her groom, Toye, is an account manager with SmartTransit USA, operators of Smart Metro and Safe Rail. He is also the founder of a lifestyle start-up, Neocove. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Reading.
