Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has declared the commitment of his administration to provide adequate security for lives and property.

The governor spoke through the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Benibo Anabraba, while highlighting 10 projects for commissioning and flag-off lasting from 10 to 23 December 2025, on Tuesday.

He said that, although the provision of security is everyone’s business, his government has placed priority on security by providing logistics for agencies to achieve the goal.

The governor acknowledged that it is the constitutional duty of government to secure lives and property, as well as securing the territorial integrity of Nigeria.

“As you know, security is everybody’s business, but in governance mainly security is mostly between the government and the security agencies. What plans we have are actually between these persons.

“But, we want to assure the people of Rivers State and residents that their security is uppermost in the mind of the governor of Rivers State, who has at several points provided equipment and other enablements such as accommodation and vehicles in collaboration with the security agencies.”

Briefing journalists on the planned projects, the SSG said the governor is set to commission 10 strategic projects that would positively impact on the citizens.

Anabraba maintained that Governor Fubara is dedicated to the mandate reposed in him by Rivers people to deliver democratic dividends.

According to him: “Beginning from Wednesday, 10 December to 23 December, the projects for commissioning and flag-off will cut across Ahoada East and West, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, Ikwerre, Emohua, Obio/Akpor, and Port Harcourt City Local Government Areas of Rivers State.

“We thank the people of Rivers State for finding His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, who is humbled by the trust reposed in him, and honoured by the privilege bestowed on him to serve as the Governor of Rivers State at this time of our lives as a people, and hereby convey the Governor’s commitment to ensuring that the dividends of democracy are delivered to all citizens irrespective of location, while maintaining the peace and development of Rivers State at all times.

“As a government that secured its electoral victory on the popular mandate of the good people of Rivers State, we pledged, at the inception of this administration, to make the welfare of our citizens a primus of our social contract, and this we have assiduously worked to protect and to provide, through the provision of critical infrastructure and other welfarist programmes, including keeping the peace and order of the State, for its socio-economic growth and development.

“Despite the resultant effects of the interregnum in democratic governance, we have taken off in earnest, from where we stopped, particularly in the initiation, execution, and completion of projects, with special appreciation to the President of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose timely and fatherly intervention and magnanimity ensured that this administration returned to fulfil its obligation to the people of the state.”
