…Describes This Year’s Ember Months As Very Usual

Delta state Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel Erale, has called for more understanding between the police and populace, especially during this ‘Ember Months’, that policemen are saddled with so much responsibility of ensuring a crime-free festivities and an hitch-free 2027 general elections.
CP Erale, who made the appeal while addressing stakeholders during his familiarization visit to Effurun Area Command in Uvwie Local Government area on Tuesday, noted that the call had become imperative considering the pressure of work on members of the police force, particularly during these periods.
While describing this period as an usual ‘Ember Months’, the Police boss who was recently deployed to Delta state after the successful conduct of Osun state election, said a lot of activities would be going on in all parts of the country at the same time during the yuletide and general elections, thereby over stressing the work load of a police officer.
According to him, ; This year’s Ember Months is an unusual one. Unusual in the sense that it coincided with the general elections and what that means is that there would be a lot of movements across the country, mostly in states where the elections are going to be held simultaneously”.
“This movement would witness the influx of policemen who are attached to politicians in various states and those who are on ground to ensure law and order both during the festive period and the elections which commences as from Saturday, January 16, 2027 till the end of the exercise as specified in INEC timetable“.
“I am now using this opportunity to appeal to community leaders and elders, women and youth leaders as well as others stakeholders and the general public to show more understanding with my men and officers who are go to be working under pressure by being more vigilante and divulging useful information that would them in discharging their duties at this critical moments”, he stated.
Erale who was in company of some management team of the Command since on Monday when he commenced familiarization tour to Delta South and Central Senatorial districts, including Royal fathers also had a closed door interactive session with his officers in all the Area Commands visited where he read the riot acts for misconducts by any policeman.
Earlier in his speech, the Effurun Area Commander, ACP Aliyu Shaba, had reaffirmed the commitment of the men and officers under his Command to carry out their duties diligently, especially in the area of crime fighting and ensuring adequate protection of lives and property of residents within coverage area.
