The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of Administration, Lagos State Command, Khan Salihu, is dead.
He reportedly died after a brief illness.
The Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr Ayodele Ogunsan, expressed profound sadness over the officer’s passing, describing him as “a complete gentleman” whose life was defined by kindness, professionalism and selfless service.
Ogunsan, while condoling with the family of the deceased, the Inspector-General of Police, the Commissioner of Police, the management team, officers and men of the Lagos State Police Command, said the sudden death of DCP Khan represents a painful loss not only to the Nigeria Police Force but also to the broader security community in Lagos State.
“We have lost an angel,” Dr Ogunsan said. “DCP Khan Salihu was one of the finest officers I had the privilege of knowing. He was cultured, extremely nice, humble and always willing to help. He carried himself with dignity and treated everyone with respect, regardless of status or position.”
The LSSTF boss noted that throughout his distinguished career, the late senior officer earned the trust and confidence of the leadership of the Lagos State Police Command through his dedication, loyalty and unwavering commitment to duty.
According to him, DCP Khan served the Command diligently and remained a dependable pillar within its leadership structure.
Ogunsan further praised the late officer’s exceptional interpersonal skills, describing him as a bridge-builder who was admired by colleagues and stakeholders alike for his calm disposition, accessibility and readiness to support worthy causes.

“His professionalism was exemplary, but beyond that, he was a genuinely good man and a lover of God. His passing leaves a void that will be difficult to fill,” he said.
He added that the security community in Lagos State would remember the late senior officer as a man who served with honour and touched countless lives through his kindness and dedication.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the death, said:
“The news of his demise came as a profound shock and a painful loss to the officers and men of the Command. The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, on behalf of the officers and men of the Command, extends heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time.
“The Command mourns the loss of a highly dedicated, disciplined and committed senior police officer who served the Nigeria Police Force with exceptional professionalism, loyalty and integrity. Throughout his distinguished career, DCP Khan Salihu exemplified diligence, exemplary leadership and an unwavering commitment to duty.
“His wealth of experience, administrative acumen and invaluable contributions greatly enhanced the effective management and operational efficiency of the Lagos State Police Command.
“The Command prays that Almighty God grants his family the strength and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss and grants the departed officer eternal rest.
“DCP Khan Salihu will be fondly remembered for his dedication, humility, professionalism and selfless service to the nation and the Nigeria Police Force. His legacy of service and commitment will continue to inspire officers and men of the Command. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”
