A joint force of Operation Rainbow and operatives of the mobile police on Monday repelled an attack on Tanjol village in Jol Community of Riyom local government area of Plateau state.
The attack, which occurred at about 4:54 pm however claimed one life.
According to a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of Berom Youths Moulder-Association, Rwang Tengwong, the terrorists descended from the hills of of Rahum village, renamed Mahanga, and launched a coordinated attack on the community.
Tengwong gave the name of the victim as Daniel Danladi Choji, aged 25.
He said that the groups matched into Vwak and Tanjol areas in more than five groups and fired sporadically until they were repelled by personnel of Operation Rainbow and Nigeria Mobile Police Force.

Tengwong said that before launching the attack, the gunmen, in their usual character, had moved their cattle to grazing lands in nearby villages
The statement says, “There’s a report of terrorist attack that claimed the life of Daniel Danladi Choji, 25 years of Tanjol village in Jol Community, Riyom LGA at about 4:54pm of today, 18th May, 2026.
“According to eyewitness’ accounts, the terrorists, who hailed from Rankum (Mahanga) were in more than 5 groups that matched to Vwak and Tanjol areas of the community, and opened heavy gunfire sporadically until they were repelled by personnel of Operation Rainbow and Nigeria Mobile Police Force.
“The Berom Youths Moulder-Association under the leadership of Barr. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri hereby calls on the attention of Plateau State Government and STF to , as a matter of urgency, halt Fulani from grazing in that general area if terror attacks must stop.
“The BYM further calls for military operations on the famous terrorist enclave (Mahanga), where hundreds of heavily armed terrorist gangs have been recently camped otherwise killings of unsuspecting inhabitants would continue unabated in Plateau and Middle-Belt Region”, the statement said.
