Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer ASP Victor Mshelizah has confirmed the death of at least Ten persons in Friday morning attack on Binnari Village in Karim Lamido Local government area of the State.
Residents however reports that they have so far recovered the bodies of about 26 persons including mostly children in the attack by suspected bandits who, allegedly, crossed from neighbouring Plateau State to carry out the nefarious attack.
Karim Lamido Local government area has become a theatre of absurdity with constant attacks on communities, senseless killings and wanton destruction of property.
Our Correspondent reports that the situation has drawn the attention of the State Governor Agbu Kefas who has taken proactive measures including deployment of troops and community engagements to resolve the situation.
However, this latest attack has shown how precarious and fluid the security situation in the local government remains.
According to residents accounts, the attackers stormed the remote village in the early hours of Friday and started shooting sporadically, killing people as they scrambled for safety.
People’s harvests and other property were also destroyed in the attack while homes were set ablaze as the locals run for their lives.
