Scopus accepts journal founded by UNN scholar, Celestine, for indexing

A mass communication scholar with the University of Nigeria (Nsukka), Dr. Gever Verlumun Celestine, has recorded another academic feat with the acceptance of lanna journal by Scopus Scival for indexing.

This year Scopus Scival, a global research platform ranked the UNN lecturer; Dr. Celestine was the first among communication scholars in Nigeria.

In the Scopus Scival ranking for 2019/2022, Dr. Celestine was ranked 161, out of the top 500 scholars, which places him first among communication scholars in the country.

Breaking the news of his new academic feat, Dr. Celestine, who addressed newsmen via online, said Scopus Scival has recognized lanna journal and that scholars can now send their articles.

Dr. Celestine, who is also a research fellow with INTI International University, Malaysia and with the Centre for Advanced Internet Studies, Bochum, Germany said Scopus Scival is a globally recognized database that provides information for measuring the research outputs of scholars.

“It is one of the globally used benchmarks for determining the performance of scholars. Over the years, I have dedicated my life to research and the pursuit of academic excellence. I have achieved unprecedented feats in research in only about five years of becoming a university lecturer and I believe that these achievements need to be highlighted in the media so that other intending and current scholars will be encouraged.

I believe that projecting my research activities is for the overall benefit of the society and the support for excellence in teaching, learning and researching for the overall benefit of the Nigerian society.

“The aim of this press conference is to break the news to you that a journal that I established has been accepted for Scopus Indexing. The title of the journal is Ianna Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies. The Journal is domiciled in the Department of Mass Communication, University of Nigeria, Nsukka,” he explained.

Celestine disclosed that he achieved this feat in less than four years of establishing the journal and described it as unprecedented.

He asked scholars, who wish to verify that the journal has been accepted for Scopus indexing, should visit www.scopus.com.

According to him, few scholars in Nigeria have published in Scopus, stating, Iran, Iraqi and Turkey university staff that get published in Scopus are rewarded financially.

Celestine said Ianna journal would focus on publishing key issues that affect the country and vowed, “we will not lower our standard. We will continue to promote research standards.”
