The Flagbearer of New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP), for Kwande /Ushongo Federal Constituency, in Benue state, Professor Kohol Iornem, said he has written to a commercial bank, Access Bank, requesting it to open a branch office in Adikpo.

Adikpo is the headquarters of Kwande Local Government Area, LGA, of Benue state which is a transit LG between the state and Cameroon.

Professor Iornem noted that it has been the yearnings of residents of Adikpo for the bank to operate a branch there to reduce the sufferings of existing customers of the bank who are compelled to travel long distances to Gboko LGA to make huge financial transactions.

He said such trips had, on many occasions, put a lot of inconveniences and risks on residents who at some times, lose their money to robbers on their way to the banks.

He explained that establishing a branch in Adikpo will be of mutual benefit to the community and the Bank, emphasizing that the highly populated township has many inhabitants who are financially literate enough to own a bank account and operate it for their personal and business needs.

He further stated that the branch will end the monopoly and exploitation of his people being currently perpetrated by Point of Sale, POS, operators who charge exorbitant rates to make cash available to the people.

Professor Iornem who noted that there are a lot of economic activities in the area, said civil servants and businessmen and women are waiting to transact and keep their monies with a trusted bank so that they can gain more benefits rather than banking with local co-operatives.

The NNPP House of Representatives candidate appealed to the bank to give his request due and prompt attention and approval.
