Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun said the idea of hosting the National Sports Festival (NSF) was meant to unite and develop the Nigerian youth.
Speaking at a parley with journalists in Abeokuta, to brief them on the state’s preparation for the festival tagged “Gateway Games 2025,” the Governor his vision while agreeing to host the festival was not only to create a sports economy but also to unite the Nigerian youth, uphold and instill discipline in them as well as nurture their talents.
“For the first time in the history of the festival, all the athletes will be camped in one place at the Babcock University, not only to give them the sense of unity and nurture their talents but to imbibe in them leadership qualities.
“While in camp, there will be time to report for their events and when to return to camp, and of course they will have leaders who will guide them during their stay on acceptable conduct and what they should not do,” the Governor said.
