King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia has mourned the demise of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
His condolence message was contained in a cable sent to the Federal Government.
Buhari died in London on Sunday, where he had been receiving treatment after a prolonged illness.
Following the development, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed the Vice President, Kashim Shettima and his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila to visit the family in London and convey the corpse to Nigeria.
The government, which declared Tuesday, July 15, 2025, as a public holiday to honour the memory of Buhari, also set up a high-powered committee to ensure a dignified and well-coordinated programme for the late President.
Buhari will be buried today in Daura, Katsina State.
“Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud sent a cable of condolences and sympathy to Federal Republic of Nigeria President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques expressed deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the president, the Nigerian people, and the family of the deceased,” the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Also, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, mourned the demise of the late ex-Nigerian leader.
The Crown Prince, in a cable of condolences sent to the Federal Government, expressed his deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the president, the Nigerian people, and the family of the late president.
“His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, sent a cable of condolences and sympathy to Federal Republic of Nigeria President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
“HRH the Crown Prince expressed deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the president, the Nigerian people, and the family of the deceased,” the condolence message read.
