The Lagos State government has announced plans to commission several iconic and transformative infrastructure projects across the state before the end of the year.

This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Infrastructure, Mr Olufemi Daramola, during an inspection tour of ongoing road projects in Alimosho Local Government Area on Tuesday, July 22.

Daramola stated that the state government is intensifying efforts to complete key development projects aimed at enhancing residents’ quality of life and stimulating economic growth in line with its transport connectivity master plan.

Among the major projects nearing completion is the five-kilometre dual carriageway at Ijegun/Ijeagemo Road, currently at 75 per cent completion. Other roads inspected include Ile Eja Road and the Olaiya/Ajibola Hassan–Alhaji Mustapha–Olu Adeyanju–Rabiatu Ogedengbe Road network, which also features a new bridge.

“These road projects, which are being delivered with complementary infrastructure, will significantly reduce travel time, improve connectivity, and boost economic activities in the area,” Daramola said.

He also urged contractors to uphold quality standards and ensure timely delivery while increasing the employment of Nigerian workers as part of the administration’s broader socio-economic objectives.

Community leaders in the area expressed appreciation to the Sanwo-Olu administration for its ongoing efforts.

They also appealed to the state government to link Ijeagemo Road to the LASU-Ojo Expressway to further improve access and mobility.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director of the construction company handling the Ijegun/Ijeagemo dual carriageway, Mr Alex Tang-Li, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to completing the project, along with all necessary facilities, by November 2025.
