Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has charged security agencies in the state to sustain vigilance and strengthen security ahead of the influx of visitors expected in Lagos during the end-of-year festivities.
Sanwo-Olu gave the charge yesterday at the State House, Marina, during a security meeting with the heads of the police, army, navy and air force formations in the state, as well as the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF).
The security chiefs briefed the governor on ongoing operations and measures being adopted to further strengthen security across the state ahead of the busy end-of-year period.
“We will not relent on our efforts to ensure that criminals don’t find a place for their evil activities in our state,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The meeting was attended by the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Fatai Tijani; Commander, 9 Brigade, Ikeja, Brig.-Gen. A.O. Owolabi; Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft, Commodore A. Adams-Aliu; Commander, 651 Base Services Group, Ikeja, Air Commodore M.A. Imam; and Executive Secretary, LSSTF, Dr Ayodele Ogunsan.
Also present were the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Tayo Ayinde; Secretary to the State Government, Abimbola Hundeyin; and Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Lawal Pedro.
Lagos is expecting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from today, while a packed calendar of religious, cultural and political activities is expected to draw large crowds to the state in the coming weeks.
The governor urged the security agencies to maintain close coordination and ensure adequate deployment to strategic locations, major transport corridors and venues hosting large gatherings.
