Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his emergence as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 presidential election.

The governor described Tinubu’s victory in the party’s primary election as well deserved, saying it reflected the confidence and trust party members across the country continue to place in the president’s leadership.

In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu commended APC members and party executives for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the primaries.

He also praised the National Working Committee and state party leaders for ensuring a transparent and well-organised process.

“I congratulate our leader and President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on his emergence as the presidential candidate of the APC for the 2027 election,” the governor said.

“This victory reflects the confidence and trust that party members across the country continue to place in his leadership and his commitment to building a better Nigeria.”

Sanwo-Olu noted that the adoption of direct primaries by the ruling party demonstrated its commitment to strengthening internal democracy by giving members greater participation in the candidate selection process.

The governor further applauded Tinubu’s economic reforms, saying the President had taken bold and necessary decisions aimed at stabilising Nigeria’s economy and laying the foundation for long-term growth.

“Over the last few years, President Tinubu has taken important decisions aimed at stabilising the economy and laying the foundation for long-term growth. At critical moments, leadership requires courage and the willingness to take decisions that will move the country forward,” he stated.

Sanwo-Olu expressed confidence that Nigerians would continue to support what he described as a vision anchored on courage, sustainable progress and equal opportunities for citizens.
