West Africa Bible Society Chief Executive Officers’ Affinity Group has chosen the secretary-general/chief executive officer of the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN), Pastor Samuel Sanusi, as chairman of its steering committee.
The election took place in Lomé, Togo, recently, during the West Africa CEOs Affinity Group’s meeting. Sanusi will also oversee Bible societies in the Central Africa region.
While accepting the responsibility, Sanusi said his aspiration was “to ensure an Affinity Group that would serve as a role model for other affinity groups in Africa and the United Bible Societies (UBS) at large.”
According to him, he would be glad to leave behind West African Bible societies that are self-sustaining and could contribute meaningfully to the global fellowship of Bible societies.

In a similar development in Nairobi, Kenya, Sanusi was elected as a member of the All-Africa Bible Societies CEOs Affinity Group and chairman of the group’s constitution review committee.
The BSN is a nonprofit interdenominational Christian organisation that translates the Bible into Nigerian languages, publishes and distributes the Scriptures and raises funds for Bible work.
The BSN has held the distinction as the top performer in Bible distribution in Africa and is among the top five Bible distributors globally, according to the yearly global Bible distribution statistics by the UBS. For English Bible distribution, Nigeria has remained number one globally for a very long time now.
