The trial of Timileyin Ajayi, the primary suspect in the murder of 24-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member Salome Adaidu, has begun in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Ajayi, who appeared before Justice Simon Aboki of the High Court of Justice in January, pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder.

Security personnel discovered Adaidu’s severed head in his possession, as well as other dismembered portions of her body inside his home.

He is charged with one crime of culpable homicide, punishable by death, under Section 221 of Northern Nigeria’s Penal Code.

The court has adjourned the case and scheduled the continuation of the trial from March 17 to March 20, 2025.
