Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu, have extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful in the state and beyond, on the occasion of the Eid-el-Fitri celebrations.
In a goodwill message to commemorate the feast, Fubara prayed that the occasion might bring joy, peace and harmony to Nigerians irrespective of creed, tribe or tongue.
He expressed: “On behalf of the government and people of Rivers State, I wish all Muslim faithful a joyous Eid el Fitri. May this occasion strengthen our bonds of peace, unity and mutual respect among all faiths.
“Let’s continue to cherish our diversity and promote harmony, tolerance and understanding. May our shared values of compassion, forgiveness and unity guide us in our daily life. Happy Eid el Fitri.”
Similarly, Professor Odu , in a statement, on Thursday, urged Muslims to continue to live in peace and harmony with their Christian neighbours during and beyond the festive period.

She noted that the state governor, Fubara, remains committed to ensuring that all residents freely carry out their religious obligations without restriction.
The deputy governor added that the State Government is working in collaboration with security agencies to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free Eid celebration across the state.
Prof. Odu wished all Muslim faithful a joyful and fulfilling Eid al-Fitri celebration.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is regarded as the holiest period for Muslims worldwide.
