The people of Igbomotoru community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area have maintained the sack of its paramount ruler, Asemieghe Ofongo from the throne.
In a motion moved by Chief Goodnews Jonathan and seconded by Chief Jeremaih Young during a meeting over the weekend held by the people including by Chiefs, elders, leaders of thought, the people, the community declared that it would henceforth cease to admit into its fold or recognise Ofongo.
The community accused Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) working in cahoots with Darlon Oil and Gas Limited owned by the 2019 All Progressive Congress governorship candidate, David Lyon has balkanised the community into factions, and breaching the constitution of the community.
It alleged that those against the peace in the community have encouraged the military men to invade the community for selfish gains.
“Soldiers burnt down properties, dehumanized women and children, young and old and are carrying out indiscriminate arrests of natives since the middle of the year,” they said.
The community similarly sent a Save Our Soul (SOS) message to Bayelsa Governor, Senator Douye Diri pleading with him to “wade into their plight as the military men, stationed in the houseboats in the have refused building materials, medical supplies food and other necessaries to freely enter into the community even when it is not at war with any individual, company or government.”
They called on the government and the International Community to come to their rescue and save them from the fate that has befallen them in the hands of Agip, Darlon Oil and the deposed monarch.
