The Sokoto State Government has begun payment of over N697 million compensation to 159 individuals whose properties were impacted by the road network rehabilitation project in the state.
This initiative was approved by Governor Ahmad Aliyu as part of his campaign promises to improve infrastructure and the living standards of the people.
The Commissioner for Lands, Housing, Survey and Town Planning, Nasiru Aliyu Dan Tsoho, is overseeing the project listed the roads undergoing rehabilitation include Kantin Sani to Gidan Bolun Magaji Junction, back of GGC to Musa Lukuwa Mosque Road, Musa Lukuwa Mosque to Bypass Road, Tafarki Road, Aci Ma Rai Mosque Road and Kantin Sani to Unguwar Rogo Road
The flag-off of the compensation payments was witnessed by several dignitaries, including Ahmad Moyi Tambuwal, permanent secretary, Ministry of Lands, Housing, Survey, and Town Planning, Shehu Aliyu, director general, Sokoto Geographic Information System (SOGIS), Abdulrahman Bello and village heads
According to a statement by Muktar Dodo Iya, PRO in the ministry, their presence underscored the significance of the project, which is set to enhance the state’s infrastructure and fulfill Governor Aliyu’s developmental promises.
