Rotary Club of Festac Central holds investiture, fundraiser for 12th president

The Rotary Club of Festac Central, last weekend, held the investiture and fundraiser for its 12th President, Rotarian Dora Edo.

 

The event which held in Festac brought together relatives, celebrants, and well-wishers of the new president, even as it served as an avenue to plan for 2023/24 Rotary year.

 

Edo, the new president also described as ‘Hope President’ have served at various capacities in the club and attended many rotary seminars.

 

She promised to use her tenure to tackle challenges in the community and called for support and co-operation.

 

In her acceptance speech after she was adorned, Edo said, “I have strong confidence that collectively we will create hope in the world. With our collective financial support and efforts, we will execute projects in all the seven areas of focus which are: Basic Education and literacy; Maternal and child health; Community and Economic development; Disease prevention and treatment; Support for environment; Water, sanitation and Hygien; and Peace and conflict resolution.”

 

She listed the projects of the 2023/24 Rotary Year as: Empowerment of ten youth artisans; Donations of exercise books with writing materials to 5th Avenue Central Primary School; Electrifying our monument at FESTAC link bridge; Renovation of school toilets at FESTAC Girls Grammar School; Fibroid surgery for two; Maternity kits for mothers; and Mental health campaign and awareness.

 

Earlier in her address, the outgoing president, Rotarian Eucharia Ndudirim Edo and her team to consider ‘disruptive innovation in rotary club management’. She described her time in office as a learning curve.

 

Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of awards to distinguished personalities and an auctioning session.
