Rotary Club of Ewu Tuntun celebrates 20th anniversary

Rotary Club of Ewu Tuntun, District 9110, has unveiled plans to celebrate its 20th anniversary and hold a change of baton ceremony on Saturday, June 29.
Bukonla Alamu, chief executive of Jaybuk Tools Ltd., will take over from Reuben Oni during the ceremony to be held at the Rotary Centre, Ladoke Akintola Street, Ikeja-GRA, Lagos.
Chairman, 20th anniversary, Mopelola Otuokhile, said awards and certificates of recognition will be presented to eminent individuals who have contributed significantly to the formation and growth of the service club.
Awardees include Rotary Club of Agege, the midwife club; the Charter President, Joseph Nyingifa; the late Alaba Akinsete (posthumous); past president, the late Adedoyin Adeyemo (posthumous); Idris Ariyo, past president; Ibiyinka Aghedo, the then district governor special representative; and Dele Oriola, club host during the provisional period.
Others are past assistant governor, Adedayo Akinbobola; Assistant Governor, Charles Okonkwo; past president, Bankole Shonubi; past assistant governor, Fuad Ajakaye and past assistant governor, Samson Okenyi.
The anniversary luncheon will have past district governor, District 9110, Oluwaninsomo Omoniyi, as the chairman and past district governor, Bola Oyebade, will deliver the keynote address on the theme: “Becoming a vibrant Rotary Club in the global Rotary family.”
According to Femi Oloyede, assistant governor and chairman of the Council of Past Presidents, Rotary Club of Ewu Tuntun members have selflessly contributed significantly over the years, to the development of the Ewu Tuntun community with the construction of several boreholes; donation of wheelchairs to physically challenged individuals; donation of N6.5 million water plant to orphanage home and Olodo community at Ibadan; renovation of the Primary Health Centre at Ewu Tuntun and donation of consumables worth hundreds of thousands of naira to Oshodi and Mafoluku Primary Health Centres; construction of toilets and donation of library to the adopted Central Primary School, Oshodi, Lagos; skills acquisition training in conjunction with UNDP Centre and Oshodi Local Government for over 2,000 youths and empowerment of entrepreneurs; among others.
The club is also among the partner clubs on the Global Grant project, entitled: ‘Little Steps, Big Health’ that is going on in Oyo, Lagos and Ogun states.
