The Rotary Club of Canal Estate, District 9111, has installed Chikere Anthony, Paul Harris Fellow (PHF), as its 10th president for the 2026–2027 Rotary Year, as the club marks its 10th anniversary with a celebration and fundraising ceremony in Lagos.

The event provided an opportunity to celebrate a decade of fellowship, humanitarian service and community development, while renewing the club’s commitment to implementing sustainable projects that improve lives.

Following the presentation of his profile and citation, past District Governor, Jide Adebolu, formally installed Anthony. He succeeds Chike Peter Ikenga, who served as president during the 2025–2026 Rotary Year. In his acceptance speech, Anthony described his emergence as president as both an honour and a responsibility, noting that Rotary leadership offered an opportunity to serve humanity, strengthen fellowship and create opportunities for others.

“I am deeply honoured and humbled to stand before you as president of Rotary Club of Canal Estate in our milestone 10th anniversary year. I accept this responsibility with gratitude and a clear understanding that the presidency of Rotary is not just a position. It is an opportunity to serve, provide friendship and create opportunities for others,” he said.

Unveiling the theme of his administration, “Impact Through Service,” Anthony said his leadership would prioritise initiatives capable of delivering measurable and lasting benefits to host communities.

“For Rotary Club of Canal Estate, that means more than meetings and projects. It means every act of service must leave a visible, lasting difference in the lives of the people we serve. Service is what we do, and impact remains after we have done it,” he stated.

He pledged that his administration would execute projects across Rotary’s seven areas of focus: peace building and conflict prevention; disease prevention and treatment; water, sanitation and hygiene; maternal and child health; basic education and literacy; community economic development; and the environment. According to him, the administration would prioritise the quality and sustainability of its interventions rather than the number of activities undertaken.
