Rotary Club Amuwo, District 9110 has granted scholarships to 30 indigent students in their community.
Club’s Service Chair, Chris Ezeokwelume, said beneficiaries were identified and bankrolled based on lack of financial support to pursue their academic studies.
He said every year the club goes in search of prospective beneficiaries.
“The financial aid will aid will help them to purchase needed materials for their school,” he said.
He described the scholarship as a project the club had been undertaking every year with 10 students as beneficiaries. Ezeokwelume, however, said for this year, the club decided to increase the number of beneficiaries to 30 even as it gave grants to polio victims to enable them start businesses and trade. It also gave Life Insurance policies to three Indigent women in Amuwo community. This year’s event at Amuwo witnessed the induction of new members even as Rotary International district 9110, District Governor, Omotunde Lawson, and her entourage also visited the club.
Imaginative President of Rotary Club of Amuwo, Gono Zakari who was delighted at the turn out of the event emphasised that Rotary Club was committed to touching and changing lives and that in Amuwo it would always do good to community members.
