In its expansion beyond Nigeria, the Association of Professional Women Engineers (APWEN) faced a pivotal decision in selecting a representative for its international endeavors. Following extensive deliberation, the APWEN committee proudly nominated Roseline Cletus Igah.

This nomination was a natural choice, reflecting Roseline’s unwavering dedication and numerous contributions to APWEN. Her selfless commitment to advancing women in engineering, coupled with her visionary leadership, uniquely qualifies her to champion APWEN’s mission on the global stage.
As the International Representative of APWEN since 2012, Roseline Cletus Igah has been a driving force in advancing the organization’s global presence and impact. She plays a pivotal role in formalizing the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between APWEN and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) in the United States, a collaboration that aligns strategic objectives, establishes governance frameworks, and paves the way for initiatives such as exchange visits, SWE sister collaborations, and membership growth.
Serving as APWEN’s primary liaison with international counterparts, Roseline has cultivated enduring relationships through consistent virtual and in-person engagements, collaborative planning, and joint workshops. Her efforts were instrumental in re-establishing APWEN’s membership in the International Network of Women in Engineering and Science (INWES) in 2014. Passionate about amplifying the voices of Nigerian female engineers, Roseline encourages them to present papers at SWE’s annual conferences, resulting in a significant rise in the number of APWEN attendees and presenters each year. This has afforded countless women invaluable networking opportunities, exposure to international standards, and accelerated career progression.
Roseline’s commitment extends to capacity-building initiatives, where she designed approaches to prepare Nigerian women for global conferences and leadership forums. She is also overseeing all logistical aspects of international travel for APWEN delegates, ensuring cost-effective accommodations and seamless travel arrangements, such as her coordination of a successful initiative in 2012, which enabled 33 Nigerian female engineers to attend the SWE conference in Houston, Texas.
Through her work at high-level summits and advisory councils, Roseline continues to champion gender equity in engineering and advocates for Nigeria’s STEM education initiatives. Looking ahead, she plans to launch a mentorship project aimed at inspiring and guiding young girls in engineering and IT.
Roseline Cletus Igah is a seasoned IT Engineer with over 15 years of experience spanning both Telecommunications and the Payments Industry. As a payment expert, Roseline has played a pivotal role in the integration of leading payment systems, including Mastercard, Visa, and China UnionPay, into the Unified Payments Network. Currently, she is spearheading the innovative Payattitude initiative, a Nigerian payment scheme poised to compete with major global players. Beyond her expertise in electronic payments, Roseline is passionately committed to advancing the female engineering profession through her active involvement in APWEN, where she strives to empower and elevate women in the field. She holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Federal University of Technology Minna and bagged her Msc. in Engineering and Management from the Prestigious Coventry University London. She attended the High-Performance Leadership training from Cornel University USA in 2017. Roseline is a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
“Since I assumed the role of APWEN’s International Representative in 2012, we have increased the number of Nigerian female engineers attending international conferences by over 12%. This growth has provided our women with greater exposure and networking opportunities, significantly elevating their careers to new heights.”
