Some leaders and candidates of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Osun State on Wednesday declared their support for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
The NNPP senatorial candidates for Osun Central and West as well as
three House of Representatives candidates said the decision to endorse Tinubu for the presidency was hinged on his capacity to lead Nigeria to greater heights.
Those that endorsed Tinubu at a press conference in Osogbo are the Osun Central Senatorial Candidate of NNPP, Bamgbola Kola, Akinyode Mayowa of the west, Fabayo Elijah of Ila Federal Constituency and Ajayi Babatunde of Ijesa South Federal Constituency.
They noted that one of them and House of Assembly candidates are still coming to join the endorsement.
The defectors noted that a movement tagged “Agent of New Nigeria for Asiwaju” has been founded and will be unveiled soon.
They said, “given the prevailing circumstances within our party NNPP and after due consultation and approval of our supporters across the three senatorial districts of the state. We the candidates do the senate, house of representatives and house of assembly, wish to announce and declare our support and endorsement of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the coming general election.
“This is as a result of our dissatisfaction with the leadership of the party at the national level coupled with the inability of the party stakeholders to work by the principle of
justice, disobedience to the rule of law, and undemocratic running of the party.
“The unprofessionalism of the National Secretary at the party Mr Dipo Olayoku and South West Zonal Secretary Mr Tunde Oke coupled with others’ inexperience will jeopardize our
vision for a new Nigeria. So many candidates will also be leaving in a couple of weeks on the desire to enjoy good governance and dividends of democracy which can be realized under a new Nigeria can only be found in the APC presidential candidates, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
