A group, Lobito for Asiwaju, is set to recruit 5000 coordinators in Bauchi State to mobilise votes for the All Progressives Congress Presidential (APC) Presidential candidate, Ahmed Bola Tinubu for the 2023 Presidential election.
The Chairman, Steering Committee for Bauchi State, Idris Lawal, made the disclosure in his welcome address at the launching of the State chapter and unveiling of the group logo at Double Four International Event Centre, Bauchi, on Wednesday.
Lawal said Lobito, a Crescent in Abuja, became a strategic rallying point for the candidacy and success of Muhammadu Buhari bid for President in 2015.
Addressing hundreds of hundreds of Tinubu supporters inside the massive hall, Lawal said the goal of the Lobito for Asiwaju for President 2023 was to replicate the success of 2015.
He said the movement was gaining more popularity across the length and breadth of Nigeria saying the Lobito structure would be replicated in the 20 local government areas and 312 wards in Bauchi State.
“We have already selected one person per local government as ambassador and next week we will select 10 persons per ward and eventually 20 persons per unit,” he said.
“All in all we are going to select 5000 ambassadors for the group to drum support for Tinubu in Bauchi State to go for house to house campaign ahead of the 2023 general election”
Auwal Aliyu, a member of the steering committee while criticising opponents of the APC Muslim Muslim ticket, assured that the Lobito would be aggressively used to propagate the ideals and capabilities of Tinubu candidacy.
“This Muslim-Muslim ticket criticism is diversionary because those opposing it are doing so for selfish and vested interests and has nothing to do with the ordinary voter,” Aliyu said.
“The ordinary voter has nothing to do with it because in Nigeria what is a problem to a Muslim is also a problem for Christian so l don’t think any progressive person should be worried”
He said Tinubu is better than all the presidential candidates, adding that the former Lagos State governor is a good product that needs too much advertisement to sell.
Also speaking, a national coordinator of the group, Engineer Habu, assured that Lobito Group for Asiwaju reaches every nook and cranny of Nigeria to ensure that the APC Presidential candidate gets to the Presidential Villa come 2023.
“Lobito is where Buhari started and it is a continuation for Tinubu,” he said.
Tinubu has capacity to rule and build successors. Almost every successful person in Nigeria has Tinubu’s support and he is willing to groom young ones.
“Age is just a number. The President of US is 74, so age is just a number so Tinubu is a man of capacity”
Speaking also, Usman Ya’u, member of the Youth Steering Committee, said the group.has recruited members from the unit, ward, local government levels.
“The group is all about youth and as you can see hundreds of them are here today, including Keke (tricycle riders) who came from all the local government areas of the state,” he said.
“Our members are ready to protect the interest of Asiwaju Bola Ahmes Tinubu at all levels.
” There is no doubt that Tinubu is done with Bauchi. We have the structure with youth, elders and women. We only need prayer”
