As the country is preparing for another general election in 2023, the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, has called on the indigenes and residents of the state, not to be hoodwinked by the deceit of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), but vote the party out of power next year.
The chairman of the PDP in Ogun state, Sikirulai Ogundele, who made the call during the handing over and commissioning of a water project donated to Lantoro Community, Abeokuta, Toyin Amuzu, the PDP House of Representatives candidate for the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency, declared that the APC’s rule both at the Federal and state levels, has brought untold hardship and many regrets to the people.
He said that the APC got to power with concocted lies, vile propaganda and deceit but could not sustain all these, as their level of insincerity and incompetence are now very glaring to every Nigerian.
The PDP chairman noted that it wasn’t that the PDP did not face challenges while at the helm of affairs, but the party was able to match the challenges and reduce the pains of the people.
Ogundele commended Amuzu for the provision of potable water to the community, noting that PDP in the state parades candidates whom he described as selfless individuals with the interest of the people and the betterment of their communities at heart.
He, however, advised the people of Abeokuta South Local Government not to miss such sincere and honest leadership exemplified by the donor
In his remarks, Amuzu, who expressed shock and disappointment at the level of deprivation the people are going through especially as it concerns the availability of potable water, said he would not relent in his efforts to see a better Federal Constituency.
He noted that any responsible government would not play politics with the needs of the people but work assiduously for their betterment.
He said, “it is not the amount of wealth that one has that would determine doing such projects or seeing others happy, but the heart willing to alleviate the sufferings of the people”.
