Road crash: Kebbi Gov mourns death of two Councillors, one SSA

Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has expressed deep shock, sorrow and profound sadness over the tragic death of three dedicated sons and daughters of Kebbi State.

Idris described the passing away as heartbreaking, painful and a great loss not only to their immediate families, but also to the government and people of the state.

The deceased are Hadiza Sabo Wara, Councillor representing Wara Ward, Sahabi Alheri, Councillor representing Birnin Yauri Ward of Ngaski Local Government Area, and Abubakar Sadiq, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor.

The two councillors, Hadiza Sabo Wara and Sahabi Alheri, lost their lives in a fatal road accident while travelling to Abuja to attend the APC National Convention.

Abubakar Sadiq died after he was knocked down by a moving vehicle on a road side after their vehicle briefly stopped while on transit to Abuja for the Convention.

The sad incidents, which occurred on Friday, 27th March, 2026, have thrown the government, the All Progressives Congress (APC) family and the entire people of Kebbi State into mourning.

Governor Idris according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity,Alhaji Yahyah Sarki, said he received the news with deep shock and a heavy heart.

“The untimely departure of the three loyal and committed individuals is a painful reminder that death comes at a time known only to ALLAH”, he sympathized.

The Governor described Hadiza Sabo Wara and Sahabi Alheri as hardworking, responsible and committed grassroots politicians who served their people with sincerity, dedication and loyalty.

“Their contributions as councillors in Ngaski Local Government Area will continue to be remembered as steadfast commitment to public service and party growth”, he added.

Governor Idris also paid glowing tribute to Abubakar Sadiq, describing him as a vibrant, loyal and tireless social media operator who played a significant role in promoting government programmes, policies and activities through the new media platform.

According to the Governor, Sadiq was a committed, energetic and passionate individual in projecting the achievements and activities of the administration, making him a valuable asset whose absence will be greatly felt.

“On behalf of the Government and good people of Kebbi State, Governor Nasir Idris extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the people and leadership of Ngaski Local Government Area, Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area, friends, political associates and the entire APC family over the painful loss.

He prayed that Almighty Allah to grant them Mercy, admit them into Aljannah Firdaus, and give their families, colleagues and loved ones the strength, patience and courage to bear the irreparable loss.

“This is indeed a moment of grief for us all. We have lost committed and patriotic individuals who served with dedication in their various capacities. May Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, forgive them and grant their souls eternal rest,” the Governor prayed.
