The Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Dr. Mohammed Shehu, has emphasised the need for stronger collaboration with the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) to enhance transparency and revenue generation in the extractive sector.
He made the disclosure during a courtesy visit by NEITI Executive Secretary, Musa Adar, at the RMAFC headquarters in Abuja.
“Our relationship with NEITI is longstanding, strategic, and mutually beneficial. We value NEITI’s efforts in promoting accountability within Nigeria’s extractive sector and remain committed to deepening our partnership,” he stated.
Shehu commended NEITI’s independent audit work, noting that data verification and reconciliation reports have significantly improved public insight into extractive financial flows.
He also congratulated Adar on his appointment, expressing confidence in his leadership capacity.

In his response, Adar noted that reliable reporting on oil, gas, and mining activities remains critical for national fiscal management.
He noted the NEITI’s alignment with the 2023 Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) Standard, which emphasises data reliability, systematic disclosure, and inter-agency cooperation.
Adar formally invited RMAFC to participate in the upcoming global EITI conference, scheduled for October 8 to 9, 2026, in Brussels, Belgium, where Nigeria will highlight its governance reforms.
“Our objective is to build a coordinated institutional framework for revenue assurance,” he stated.
Adar also called for expanded data sharing between both agencies to support evidence-based policy choices.
