Following the confirmation of the demise of Breaking Bad actor RJ Mitte, the cause of death has been officially revealed.
The Daily Sun reported that Mitte, 34, died on Monday, October 12, 2026, in Brownsville, Texas. The latest reports say he died by suicide.
The update was shared by a representative who spoke to People, years after Mitte opened up about how his diagnosis of cerebral palsy at age 3 affected his mental health.
Speaking to the Australian Broadcast Corporation in 2025, the Breaking Bad star said, “Cerebral palsy and mental health go hand in hand because when you have a physical disability you’re twice as likely to be bullied.
“One thing I’ve learned from my disability is that when there is an obstacle, you adapt and grow. You can’t let that obstacle break you down and discourage you.”

Additionally, Mitte shared on an episode of the Joe Vulpis Podcast, “With the work I’ve done with people with disabilities and equal opportunity, employment and advocacy and really just trying to remind people that they have a voice and lend my voice, that’s really the greatest thing that Breaking Bad has given me.”
Reports indicate Mitte was busy with work in the weeks before his death.
His last public appearance was on September 30, 2026, in Beverly Hills, California, for a screening of his movie Talking To Strangers.
The actor was also reportedly preparing for the release of his horror film One Eye Open on October 16.
