The Igbu Youth Congress, Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State has countered Mr David Gift’s denial of killing the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ahoada LGA, Bako Angbashim, a Superintendent of Police (SP).
Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the youth group Mr Hector Ekeakita maintained that the cult kingpin, who is popularly known as 2Baba, murdered the late DPO Angbashim, adding that he was instrumental to the killing of five other persons in the area recently.
He noted: “Early this morning, I heard news flying around the corners that one notorious, criminal, kidnapper and cultist known as David Gift Mighty going around the radio stations saying he is not the one that killed SP Bako Angbashim; that he is not into killings and cultism in Ahoada East Local Government Area.
“I want the public to disregard all those news going around, that no king sponsored him. This is just a way of distracting members of the public and giving falsehood because of the court case that is about to happen tomorrow (Tuesday).
“We want to tell David Gift Mighty Okporonwo that if he says his hands are clean, he is not involved in the death of SP Bako, he should come out openly and submit himself to the Police. He should come out and tell police what happened in his own community.
“He should also tell the police who had been killing sons and daughters of Ekpeye and Aku at large. He should also tell the police who killed just of recent five persons in Odumerenyi. He said he is not a cultist, he is dredging. He hijacks people’s dredger under duress.
“Now, there are series of gun showing on video on social media. Who owns those guns? And who is playing those activities? And whose voice was echoing when they (cultists) were cutting Bako’s hands, head and others? And who is the person who said that they suspected that they have shot Bako’s informant which is Hector, that he is moving unhealthy, that they should go and carry him. He told Bright from Eketa that he should not worry that they should cross Bako’s body.
“Then, following the arrest of co-cultists and the native doctor, the latter also claimed that he (2Baba) was the one that asked him (native doctor) to do the jazz for him. Also, the cult members said David Gift Mighty is their leader and this is what they did with the body of Bako.
“So, he should stop hiding and giving information to cause distraction to the judiciary and security agencies because I know his days are numbered.
“So, we, the Igbu Akoh Youth Congress will not fold our hands and we would never relent in making sure that those that involved in killing innocent people, especially that of Bako Angbashim will be brought to book. No amount of distraction from any angle in Ekpeye that will stop judiciary from doing their work.
“I believe murdering or killing of innocent people is a capital offence in Nigerian Constitution. So, you should stop hiding yourself. If you know that you were not involved come out and tell the general public and police.”
Also, the group has debunked the claim by Gift that he was once granted amnesty by government, but later returned to crime due to failure of government to keep to its agreement.
He continued: “And I want to put it on record that David Gift Mighty never took any amnesty. He was never even at the frontline of amnesty in Ekpeye. I want to quote him anywhere any day. He is just a mere divert.
Spokesman of the group maintained that 2Baba, who was declared wanted with N100 million bounty by the state government operated under duress to forcefully acquire the guns he is using.
