• Dismisses Atiku’s allegations of foul play
From Romanus Ugwu, Abuja
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the victory in the just concluded Rivers State local government election as another unmistakable indication of strong confidence of the people in the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.
Expressing happiness over the outcome of the election where the APC won 20 out of the 23 contested chairmanship seats across the state, APC thanked its leaders, members and supporters for working assiduously for the victory.
In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the party, however, urged the newly elected officials to work even harder to deliver meaningful governance outcomes for the common good of all.
According to the statement, the party also thanked the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) and security agencies for ensuring a peaceful, transparent and hitch-free election.
The party, however, rejected what it called the incendiary and highly irresponsible allegations of foul play by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar about the elections.
The statement read: “The APC expresses its profound appreciation to the good people of Rivers State for their overwhelming support in Saturday’s local government elections, with our great party winning 20 out of the 23 contested chairmanship seats across the state.
“This victory is yet another unmistakable indication of strong confidence of the people in the APC-led President Tinubu administration and its flagship Renewed Hope Agenda to continue to deliver transformative and people-oriented governance at all levels in our country.

Dismissing the insinuations from former Vice President Atiku, the APC noted in the statement that, “Our great party categorically rejects the incendiary and highly irresponsible allegations of foul play hurled by Atiku about the local government elections.
“Atiku’s tirade is no more than a smokescreen meant to distract the public from another miserable no-show record of his African Democratic Congress (ADC) and an attempt to stoke tension and strife over the Rivers local government election.
“We trust Rivers people to reject Atiku’s incitement to strife and instability as an unwise counsel of a forlorn serial presidential contender.
“Again, our profuse gratitude remains with the Rivers State electorate for their highly valued support. Together, we will build a stronger, more united Rivers State that works for the good of all.”
