Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has reportedly exited the Government House in Port Harcourt alongside his family and security details.

The crisis in the state took a dramatic turn on Tuesday after President Tinubu declared a state of emergency in the region and announced the suspension of Fubara and his deputy.

A close source who pleaded anonymity disclosed that Fubara vacated the government house on Wednesday amid spare security in the premises.

It was revealed that the two Armoured Personnel Carriers spotted on Tuesday night in front of the premises were still stationed there with a handful of security operatives.

Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (retd.), who was appointed by Tinubu to oversee the affairs of Rivers State, was yet to resume office as of 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, criticism has trailed Fubara’s suspension, with the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, calling the decision unconstitutional and reckless.
