The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has said suspended Rivers governor, Siminalayi Fubara could have used wisdom to resolve the crisis that led to his suspension.
Wike said this in a media parley broadcast on Arise TV on Friday.
On March 18, President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers and suspended the governor and state House of Assembly for six months.
This followed a political crisis that engulfed the state, culminating in the assembly initiating impeachment proceedings against the governor for gross misconduct.
Wike, a former Rivers governor and estranged godfather of Fubara, said the suspended governor could have nipped the crisis in the bud.
According to him, the best opportunity to resolve the crisis presented itself when President Tinubu invited the warring paries to Abuja.
Wike said instead of taking advantage of the opportunity, Fubara allowed himself to be deceived by some elders from the state.
He said the same elders also headed to court in support of the governor.
“Now who is suspended? Is it me?” Wike asked.
However, the minister said he is remains open to peace and reconciliation with the suspended governor.
