Rivers 2027: Tinubu’s federal appointments, projects top agenda, as APC holds rally Nov 7

Ex-defence minister Badaru hails mass turnout at Tinubu rally

The forthcoming presidential rally in Rivers State scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026, at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, will provide an opportunity for Rivers people to appreciate President Bola Tinubu’s infrastructure investments, federal appointments and development initiatives in the state.

The rally, organised for President Tinubu’s re-election campaign, is expected to attract political leaders, party faithful and supporters from across Rivers State.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, Princewill Dike, highlighted some of the federal appointments secured by Rivers indigenes under the Tinubu administration.

In a post on his Facebook page, Princewill Dike Platform, he listed Ambassador Desmond Akawor as Federal Commissioner representing Rivers State on the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, an appointment approved by President Tinubu in November 2023 and formalised after Senate confirmation.

Dike also mentioned Boma Iyaye as Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, while Chief Tony Okocha was appointed as Rivers representative on the Commission’s Governing Board.

Other appointments include Senator Magnus Abe as Chairman of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall, and Chief Victor Tombari Giadom as Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Educational Planning and Administration.

Speaking on the wider representation, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, reportedly disclosed on October 24, 2026, that Rivers had secured no fewer than 49 federal appointments under the Tinubu administration, including directors-general, executive secretaries and heads of federal agencies.

On infrastructure, Dike cited the 37.9-kilometre Bodo-Bonny Road, temporarily opened in December 2025, which provides a direct land connection between Bonny Island and the mainland, ending decades of dependence on river transportation and helicopter services.

He also listed the East-West Road, particularly the Eleme Junction-Port Harcourt-Ahoada and Eleme Junction-Onne Port sections, as part of Federal Government’s efforts to improve connectivity in the Niger Delta.

Other projects include the 700-kilometre Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway traversing nine states, including Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Cross River; NDDC projects such as the Kaa-Ataba Bridge linking Khana and Andoni Local Government Areas and the Bonny Ring Road and Bridges being undertaken with NLNG; and the Federal University of Environment and Technology, FUET, at Koroma/Saakpenwa in Tai Local Government Area of Ogoniland.

According to Dike, a member of the Publicity/Media Committee of the Tinubu Campaign Organisation in Rivers State, the November 7 rally provides a platform for stakeholders to engage on federal representation, infrastructure and the future of Rivers State, “and to thank the President for his goodwill to the state and assure him of Rivers votes.”
