Unconfirmed reports from Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, indicate that a police officer and a member of a local vigilance group have been killed in Omuma local government area of the state.
This follows the violence that broke out in the early hours of Tuesday as local government chairmen whose tenure elapsed on Monday refused to vacate their offices.
