Super Eagles’ midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi has opened up on rites he performed ahead crucial games.
The Leicester City midfielder, who last season inspired the championship side back to Premier League, disclosed this to Daily Sunsports.
Known for his tackling prowess, Ndidi started working on his diet and spending quality time with his wife, these are the usual rites behind his success, according to him.
He, however, stated he learnt such from Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and other soccer stars that have inspired him to glory.
“People often think I do the extra ordinary training before games. There are rites which I usually perform ahead crucial games and this has helped maintain my form.
“I don’t know about rites others perform, some soccer stars go extra miles in making sure they’re fit for games. Football as we all know is not an easy game, one has to be fit and settled for the best frame of mind. As for me, working on my diet has been the topmost rite I performed to regain fitness ahead of games. Most people don’t actually know this and it has helped shape me to what I become today.
“Secondly, spending quality time with my loved one, especially my wife, makes me feel special ahead outing. It helped relaxing my mind and enhances my psychology. Most big names in football also do this, which I think most people don’t know and I won’t relent in performing it for it has really worked for me,” he stated in a media parley in Lagos.
Having missed the 2024 AFCON due to injury, Ndidi will be aiming to battle Brentford’s Frank Onyeka in his bid to regain his starting shirt in the Super Eagles.
He will however hope to reclaim this during the forthcoming 2026 World Cup qualifier duel against South Africa in Uyo come next week.
