It was about a year ago that one of Nigeria’s most innovative automotive companies, Mikano Motors, formally left the Geely brand and proudly ushered in the high-riding Changan range.
At the typically grand ceremony held at Mikano Motors’ ultra-modern showroom on Adeola Odeku Street in Victoria Island, Lagos, four of the 15 anticipated Changan vehicles thrilled the bevy of celebrity guests present.
The four Changan models on display that day included the Eado DT sedan, CS35Plus, CS85 Luxury Coupe SUV and the Executive CS95 large SUV.
The showroom, easily the best in industry, has since been home to another big star, the Changan UNI-K; from where it has been making waves in Nigeria’s automotive market, capturing the attention of car enthusiasts and new buyers alike around the country.
A mid-size SUV with a turbocharged engine and all-wheel drive, the UNI-K is part of Changan’s UNI series, which is a line of high-end models.
As the competition in the SUV segment heats up, the UNI-K stands out due to its features, design, and performance, as highlighted by a popular auto news source, YallaMotor:
Key features of current UNI-K
Stylish Design: The UNI-K boasts a modern and sleek exterior that appeals to a wide audience.
Advanced Technology: Equipped with cutting-edge infotainment systems and driver-assistance features, the UNI-K enhances the driving experience. Spacious Interior: With ample legroom and cargo space, it is perfect for families and adventure seekers.
Powerful Performance: The vehicle comes with efficient engine options that deliver both power and fuel economy, which is a very important factor in the Nigerian market.
The 2.0 advanced engine technology delivers power while consuming less fuel, making driving easy and enjoyable.
Gaining popularity
Competitive Pricing: Compared to other SUVs in its class, the UNI-K offers exceptional value for money.
Brand Reputation: Changan has established itself as a reliable brand known for quality and innovation.
Positive Reviews: The car has received positive feedback from both critics and users, which boosts consumer confidence.
Mikano Motors factor. In terms of professional approach to auto marketing and huge investments in assembly and after-sales facilities, Mikano Motors {a division of Mikano International which has been contributing to the development of the Nigerian economy for over three decades} is one of the foremost auto companies in the country even though it is among the newest.
Mikano Motors ventured into the industry only about six years ago with the launch of an exclusive partnership with Zhengzou Nissan Auto (ZNA), to assemble, retail, and maintain their Rich6 line of pick-up trucks.
This was followed by an exclusive partnership with Geely Automotive International Corporation (GAIC), Maxus Autos (SAIC) and most recently, Changan Autos. This makes Mikano Motors the only automotive company in Nigeria to house three of the top four auto brands from the world’s largest automotive market; China.
As part of the drive towards becoming Nigeria’s preferred automotive company, Mikano Motors has made substantial investments in the development of a world-class auto assembly plant {at the Karameh Industrial City on the outskirts of Lagos}.
Mikano Motors has also invested remarkably in state-of-the-art service centres in parts of the country, in the aforementioned award-winning showroom in Lagos {and other locations}, and in human resources nationwide.
The results are evident in the popularity ZNA and Maxus pick-ups, as well the rising profile of the Changan models, especially the CS55, which is Nigeria’s reigning Car of the Year as voted by the auto editors, and the UNI-K.
Conclusion
The current Changan UNI-K is undoubtedly carving a niche for itself, concludes YallaMotor.
With its combination of style, technology, and affordability, it is no surprise that this model is becoming increasingly popular among car buyers in the United Arab Emirates and many markets across the world, including Nigeria.
The editors recommend that anyone considering a new SUV, should have the UNI-K on their list.
