Simplaa, a UK ride hailing company, has officially launched its ride-hailing service in Port Harcourt and is marking this milestone by celebrating Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day.

Simplaa which hopes to make transport seamless, reliable and inclusive in Nigeria , said its expansion into the country began with its subsidiary , Simplaa One Technology, which mirrors the UK operations locally.

”After months of planning, building infrastructure, training drivers, and integrating secure payment systems, we are proud to debut our ride-hailing platform in Port Harcourt, a city of energy, innovation and hospitality.

”Nigeria’s ride-hailing scene has been dominated by a few major players for years, leaving riders with limited choice and flexibility. At Simplaa, we believe independence means freedom: freedom to choose better service, better safety, and better pricing. To mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day, we’re giving Port Harcourt residents a reason to celebrate “ride independence.”

The company said the first 100 riders who book Simplaa on 1 October 2025 will enjoy a N5,000 free Independence Day ride and every new user who downloads the app anywhere in Nigeria will automatically receive N2,750 free trial credit

”We’ve built our app and service model around the needs of Nigerian riders, not just as another international import. Our vision goes beyond technology. We are investing in Nigerian drivers and the Nigerian people who engage in our internal operations, training them to international service standards, and creating sustainable income opportunities. We are also bringing in our proven expertise in airport logistics and executive transfers, which means soon, Simplaa riders will be prominent in every street in Nigeria.

Riders should be able to travel seamlessly between airports, cities and premium destinations nationwide,” the company said.
