Meet John Okonkwo Chukwu, the brilliant mind behind Nature Fingers Creation and CEO of the company. This young and creative cinematographer and video editor embarked on his cinematography journey in 2018, starting in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, where he explored various media platforms. Eventually, he moved to the South East and obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Fine and Applied Art from the prestigious Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka.
In an interview, John Okonkwo Chukwu shared his remarkable growth from being a regular wedding cinematographer to becoming a specialist in product and music video cinematography. He highlighted his collaborations with prominent brands, helping them achieve online product awareness through his artistic vision. However, he also revealed the challenges he faced while working in the South East, particularly the lack of interest from local business owners in utilizing videos as a means of advertisement.
John Okonkwo Chukwu expressed, “Sometimes, when dealing with Igbo businesspeople in the South East, they prefer not to invest in video production for their brand and allocate their funds elsewhere. This is due to their limited awareness of the power of visual storytelling. Additionally, the cost of production can also deter them.”
He emphasized the significance of his Fine and Applied Art degree in relation to his craft, stating, “The greatest advantage I have over other cinematographers is my ability to think as a Fine and Applied artist. The study of lines, light, colors, and shapes has enhanced my perception of visual storytelling in the realm of cinematography.”
