The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, has appealed to all drivers, particularly those plying the newly rehabilitated Third Mainland Bridge, to adhere to designated speed limits of 80 km per hour.

Pointing out the importance of the cooperation motorists in safeguarding lives, the Commissioner emphasized that such compliance not only ensures personal safety, but also protects other road users.

Osiyemi assured of the state government’s commitment to enforcing the speed limit, adding that the passengers equally have significant roles to play in ensuring compliance..

He urged passengers to actively participate in fostering a culture of safety by making it a duty to remind drivers to adhere to the recommended speed regulations.

Should any driver persist in flouting these essential guidelines, he encouraged passengers to promptly report such offences to the nearest Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) outpost.

Osiyemi further urged commuters to report overspeeding drivers to the following hotlines; 09020009000, 09020004000.

The Transport Commissioner’s appeal came in the wake of a tragic accident on the Third Mainland Bridge last week which resulted in two passengers being flung into the Lagoon.
