Senior Pastor of The Masters Place International Church, Korede Komaiya, has said that respect and open communication are essential to sustaining a lasting marriage, moments after publicly expressing affection for his wife during a church service.

In video clips that circulated online, Pastor Komaiya was seen holding his wife close, speaking warmly about her and describing her as a gift to his life. He commended her support and partnership, drawing applause from members of the congregation as the couple shared a brief embrace.

Using the moment to reinforce his message, the cleric told worshippers that love in marriage should not be assumed but expressed. According to him, many relationships deteriorate when appreciation is withheld or taken for granted.

“Marriage thrives where there is honour,” he said, urging spouses to celebrate each other openly and avoid language or behaviour that diminishes their partners.

On communication, Pastor Komaiya advised couples to speak honestly about their expectations and grievances rather than allow resentment to build. He cautioned against silent treatment, stressing that unresolved misunderstandings often escalate into deeper conflicts.

He added that emotional presence and affirmation are as important as financial responsibility, encouraging men in particular to show affection and verbal appreciation to their wives.

Observers noted that the pastor’s public display of affection underscored his message that respect should be visible, not hidden. Relationship counsellors say consistent communication and mutual regard create stability, while small but deliberate gestures of appreciation reinforce trust.

Pastor Komaiya maintained that enduring marriages are built on daily discipline — listening, apologising when necessary and recognising each other’s contributions. He concluded that love, when supported by respect and clear communication, remains the foundation of a stable home.
