The Federal Government has called on the media to continue reporting on the Federal Government’s projects and programmes and resist attempts by those who do not have the nation’s best interests at heart to use them as tools.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan, made the appeal during a media parley as part of the 2024 Civil Service Week celebrations, according to a statement issued by Director, Communications, Mohammed Abdullahi.
She told the executives that the interaction which was an opportunity to appreciate the media’s unwavering support in achieving the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation’s (OHCSF) mandates and to keep Nigerians informed of ongoing government reforms.
Reiterating the continental theme for this year’s Civil Service Week, “Educate an African Fit for the 21st Century: Building Resilient Education Systems for Increased Access to Inclusive, Lifelong, Quality and Relevant Learning in Africa,” she hinted that the Service has undergone several reforms, which are repositioning it for optimum performance.
These reforms have proactively recognised and avoided the pitfalls of the previous ones, hence the successes being witnessed, she added.
Yemi-Esan highlighted the successes of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025 (FCSSIP25), which has driven the evolution of a skilled, motivated, disciplined, innovative, and performance-based civil service.
She reeled out the achievements under her leadership, including the coordination of training programs, the implementation of a performance management system, the digitalization of content services, and the focus on civil servants’ welfare.
The media commended the visible transformations in the civil service and pledged to continue reporting in the interest of the service.
Present at the occasion were Transformative Permanent Secretaries from various Ministries and extra-ministerial Departments, the Accountant-General of the Federation, Dr. Oluwatoyin Madein and numerous Directors.
