Residents of Charismatic Church Road, off Ekenhuan Road in Benin City, broke into jubilation as the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, visited the area to inspect the ongoing road construction project.

The 1.4-kilometre road, being handled by Place of Peace Investment Limited, has brought renewed hope to residents and business owners who had endured years of hardship due to the previously dilapidated condition of the road.

Excited by the governor’s presence and the visible progress of work, residents gathered in large numbers, cheering and expressing gratitude for what they described as a long-awaited intervention.

One of the residents, Blessing Patrick, said the road had been abandoned for years, making movement almost impossible.

“For many years, we no dey pass this road. We thank Okpebholo for this work,”

“How many years we no fit dey pass am. E no good, e condemned. My Daddy, the Governor of Edo State, come do am. Na God go bless my Daddy,” she said.

Another resident, Osarunwense Igbinovia, who sells at a nearby junction, recalled the dangers previously associated with the road, including erosion and criminal activities.

“I dey sell for junction. This road has been very bad. I witnessed when erosion entered one upstairs. Thieves were operating around here. But now, the road has turned to good. God go bless our governor,” she said.

The ongoing reconstruction of Charismatic Church Road is expected to significantly improve accessibility, boost local commerce, and enhance safety within the community, marking a major relief for residents who have long yearned for government intervention.
