Resident cautions FCT authority against reallocation of gardens, green areas

Abuja based Afro Pop Star and Social Justice Crusader, Ayokanmi Eyanro, aka Frequencie has cautioned the Federal Capital Territory Authority against reallocation of recreational, gardens and other designated green areas for construction of estates and commercial activities.

Frequencie in a statement bemoaned the commercialisation of green areas.

According to him, the majority of gardens have been reallocated for commercial purposes which is against the Abuja masterplan approved by the Federal Government. The major aim is to create a beautiful and serene capital city that will be comfortable, habitable for residents and visitors.

He noted that the green areas were deliberately designed to maintain favourable temperature and create recreational centres for residents-like other advanced countries; United States, Australia, United Kingdom and others.

He urged the Federal Ministry of Environment and climate change advocates to call those in charge  to order and halt strategic elimination of recreational centres and gardens across Abuja.
