House of Representatives has summoned the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, and Group Managing Director of National National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, to appear before it, over the Joint Ventures (JVs), and Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) of the company from 1990 to date.
Also to appear before the parliament are chief executive officers of Total, ExxonMobil, Chevron, Shell, Aiteo. Similarly, the Central Bank of Nigeria was directed to submit all details of the JVs cash calls accounts domiciled in the apex bank.
Chairman, House Ad-hoc Committee, probing NNPC JVs and PSCs, Abubakar Fulata, issued the summon at the inaugural sitting of the panel, yesterday.
Fulata expressed displeasure that all the affected CEOs, who were invited by the panel, sent representatives and insisted that they must appear in person.
The lawmaker said, though Kyari had written to inform the committee that he was away in New York with President Muhammadu Buhari, the NNPC boss will be given a date to appear before it, when he returns to the country.
Earlier, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, while declaring the investigative hearing open, expressed displeasure that JVs and PSCs agreements are observed in the breach, with the country short-changed.
Gbajabiamila noted that the probe became imperative following allegations that the operations of the JVs and PSCs are opaque.
