The Deputy Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha and the Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, Chief Chinedum Orji have got their hopes of winning last Saturday’s national assembly election dashed.
Onyejeocha who contested the House of Representatives seat for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi federal constituency on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), was defeated by Amobi Ogah of Labour Party.
Ogah is the younger brother of the immediate past Minister of State for Mines and Steel, Uche Ogah.
In the result announced by the Returning Officer for the area, Mrs. Nneoma Nnochiri, Ogah scored 11,768 votes to beat Onyejeocha who had 8752 votes to come 2nd, while the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Liveth Ofoegbu came 3rd with 6,760 votes.

GNPP 3, and ADN 6.
In Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency, the Returning officer, Prof Uma Kalu Oke announced Chief Obi Aguocha of LP as the winner, having garnered 48,199 votes.
He defeated the Speaker, Abia House of Assembly, Chief Orji of the PDP, who scored 35,196 votes.
